wonderful Christmas tradition that allows visitors to step back in time and walk through the town of Bethlehem. We were villagers in Bethlehem for a few hours, along with our friends, the Souths. While there, Thayer learned all about bartering and trading goods, including real bread and lanterns that lit our way around the township. We were heckled by Roman soldiers; we huddled together with our friends around bonfires in the cold night air, trying to stay protected from thieves looking to steal our goods. We heard rumors of shepherds who had seen angels proclaiming the Messiah's birth. We were turned away from inn's that were too full. Then, as the crowds went home, we gathered as a "village" and walked beyond the city's gates to the manger area, complete with livestock and a Holy Family. There, we all sang "O Holy Night" to end the evening.As we walked to our car at the end of the night, Thayer proclaimed, "That was the most fun I've ever had!" This is an event he always looks forward to attending, but this year's participation made his Christmas. In fact, Primary has been a new adventure ever since that Friday night. We are so grateful for the good people of our community and their willingness to share their faith with us.
Let us all return to Bethlehem this Christmas and experience the reason for this holy season.

That sounds like a wonderful experience. Thayer will always remember it! My nephew's ward in Gilbert, AZ does the same thing and they get a great deal of participation form the other churches in the community. What a good way to get to know eachother!
